for African American Males Impacted by Violence
Is a modified Seeking Safety program that responds to the impact of violence in African American males ages 16-24. Culturally appropriate staff, resources and supports are used to ensure the adapted curriculum reaches the targeted population. Participants will receive trauma-informed care and a broad range of holistic and comprehensive services.
Peer Supports walk alongside participants enrolled in the Seeking Safety program to provide support and encouragement through shared experiences. Peer Supports serve as ambassadors of community relations within the Urban Core of Grand Rapids.
Creating a greater awareness of the impact that trauma can have on the life and functioning of African American males in our community is the goal. Involving a number of stakeholders and community partners will allow us to reach our goal.
